LaToya Stewart Founder of Marooné

The foundation for Marooné was laid long before the brand ever had a name.
I grew up hearing stories about Jamaica, the culture, the land, and the richness of where my family comes from. My parents spoke about it with pride, and my father would go deeper, teaching us about roots, herbs, and the natural ingredients enriched from the land, used by locals to care for the body.
Those early lessons stayed with me.
At a young age, I began making my own herbal skincare. I was curious. I wanted to understand the oils, the herbs, and how different ingredients could nourish the skin. What started as simple curiosity became something I continued doing for years.
For over a decade, I’ve worked with herbs, oils, and butters, learning how botanicals can be infused, how ingredients interact with the skin, and how to create body care that feels rich, balanced, and intentional.

The vision for Marooné came during a very different chapter of my life.

Years later, I found myself in a season where I knew something needed to change. During that time, I spent a lot of time praying and asking God for clarity, direction, and the courage to walk in my purpose.

Around that same time, I had a trip to Ghana planned with friends. It was originally meant to be a vacation. But as the trip grew closer, during that season of prayer, God began placing the vision for Marooné on my heart.

Being in Ghana only strengthened that vision. Walking through markets, seeing raw ingredients up close, and connecting with artisans deepened my appreciation for the craftsmanship behind natural body care.

For me, Marooné is not just a brand. It is something I believe was placed in my hands by God and built step by step with faith.

Today, Marooné is a luxury body care brand centered on carefully crafted butters and oils designed to deeply nourish the skin while delivering an elevated experience.

What started with curiosity, faith, and years of learning has grown into something much greater.

And this is only the beginning.
